报告题目:On Moment Problems in Robust Control, Spectral Estimation, Image Processing and System Identification
内容简介:Moment problems are ubiquitous in both mathematics and engineering. Such inverse problems are typically underdetermined and give rise to families of particular solutions. Therefore finding a solution that also satisfies a natural optimality criterion and additional design specifications is an important general problem in engineering. Many problems in circuit theory, power systems, robust control, signal processing, spectral estimation, statistical modeling, image processing and identification lead to a non-classical version of the moment problem, reflecting the importance of rational functions in engineering applications. Although this version of the problem is nonlinear, there exists a natural, universal family of strictly convex optimization criteria defined on the convex set of particular solutions. This provides a powerful paradigm for smoothly parameterizing, comparing and shaping the solutions based on various additional design criteria and enables us to establish the smooth dependence of solutions on problem data.
报告人介绍:Anders Lindquist is presently Chair Professor and Qian Ren Scholar at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He was elected Foreign Academician of CAS in 2015. He is also the Director of the Strategic Research Center for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (CIAM) at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), where he was a Professor of Optimization and Systems Theory between 1983 and 2010. Before then, after getting a PhD from KTH, he had a full academic career from assistant to full Professor in the United States. Between 2000 and 2009 he was the Head of the Mathematics Department at KTH. Dr. Lindquist is a Member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, a Foreign Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, a Fellow of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), an Honorary Member the Hungarian Operations Research Society, a Fellow of SIAM (Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics), a Fellow of IFAC (International Federation of Automatic Control), and a Life Fellow of IEEE. He was awarded the 2009 W.T. and Idalia Reid Prize in Mathematics from SIAM, the 2003 George S. Axelby Outstanding Paper Award from the IEEE Control Systems Society (CSS), and a SIGEST paper award from SIAM Review in 2001. He received an Honorary Doctorate (Doctor Scientiarum Honoris Causa) from Technion (Israel Institute of Technology), Haifa, in June 2010. Lindquist has served on many editorial boards of journals and book series. Presently he is on the editorial boards of SIAM Review, Acta Automatica Sinica and the newly started journal EMS Surveys in Mathematical Sciences of the European Mathematical Society. He is a frequently invited plenary and keynote speaker at major international scientific conferences. Between 1989 and 2009 he was an Affiliate Professor at Washington University St. Louis, and in 2002 a Gordon McKay Visiting Professor at Berkeley.
